Platform

Outreach

– Foster intersociety collaboration with an increase in joint event and initiative hosting with design teams, stream societies and other community groups.

– Improve advertisement of meeting times so members know exactly when meetings are happening and know that they are welcome to attend anytime.

– Support the incoming services director to expand access and reduce costs for services like the 3D and regular printers, loaning of tools and technical equipment, textbook sharing, secure storing of personal items between classes, and more.

– Support a smooth transition back to in-person events as soon as possible and encourage more funding to be allocated to their facilitation.

– Host, or assist another society in hosting, a second annual Society Bonding night to continue to grow inter stream society relations to build strong connections and cooperation.

Accountability

– Ameliorate the transparency on executive roles and responsibilities, both within the executive team and to the CMAS community as a whole.

– Create a mechanical, biomedical and mechanical, and SREE B outreach plan to collect feedback, suggestions, and requests from CMAS students outside of Aerospace to better represent and involve these students in the CMAS community. Release a detailed report on findings and action plan to better represent these students.

– Facilitate comprehensive office training to each executive so all services can be offered at all times.

– Establish ongoing feedback channels to open communication between community members and the executive, as well as internally.

Restructuring

– Restructuring CMAS to better define executive positions, to increase CMAS abilities, expand ways to get involved with the executive, improve communication, better the oversight and hiring structure, and to more evenly distribute responsibilities.

– Revamping the constitution to better define our goals and direction as a society and implement the restructuring changes.

– Commit to hosting at least two town hall discussions on CMAS executive restructuring to take community feedback and recommendations in the first session, and follow up with the presentation of a proposal in the second.

Declan McCloskey

About me

Hi! My name is Declan, a second-year Aero D student, and I’m currently a CMAS Events Director. I love all things space and aviation, as well as keeping things organized and meeting new people. I’m hoping to improve CMAS as best I can next year so more MAAE students can benefit from all it has to offer!

Platform

1. Reorganization of internal CMAS executive structure:

     a) Current structure is unbalanced and leaves too much work for more junior positions; and

     b) Raising positions to VP status will improve internal communication and efficiency of the executive team.

2. Constitution revisions

     a) Define executive roles and responsibilities more clearly;

     b) Modify to accommodate proposed changes from section 1.; and

     c) Make more accessible and easily understandable by members.

Vice President External

Jake Birkness

About me

Hey MAAE students and CMAS members, my name’s Jake Birkness, and I’m running to be your Vice-President External for 2022-23! I’m finishing up my second year of Aero D, and am interested in all things space-related. I’m originally from Richmond Hill, a suburb of Toronto, but love living in Ottawa. If you see me around campus, I’d love to stop and chat about chess, books, canoe trips, and the always fun Toronto Maple Leafs. Check out my platform below!

Platform

If you’re looking for a VPX with unmatched energy and consistent professionalism, then I am your candidate. I will aim to improve community engagement through my 3 P’s, Partnership, Provision, and Promotion. Partnership means strengthening communication with CSME and CASI, while establishing CMAS as an official SEDS-Canada affiliate and AIAA chapter. Provision means facilitating sub-director roles to meet the goals of the External Team (Events Directors, Publications Director, and Year Representatives). Promotion means improving social media presence through strategic and regular posting, and hiring an additional content creator to assist Publications. If you’re still not sold, I will begin planning a future CMAS conference and will support efforts to restructure CMAS to improve the flow of work and communication. Want more information? Check out my platform on Facebook or Instagram, @jake4vpx.

As the current lead of the office wall mural, I plan to create a design that features the ability for the CMAS exec and members to add their own spice to it each year. With next year being the first year this mural will be up, as services I will be planning some cool ways for the spice to be added.

Additionally, I would like to connect with new merch suppliers to ensure prompt delivery of merch and restock of office inventory, as I know this year has been an uphill battle at times.

Finally, I want to continue keeping the CMAS office in its full glory as we have seen it this year.
